A family of growers who learned to freeze time.
Agro Shine started as one mango orchard outside Ismailia. Today we grow, sort, blast-freeze and ship Egyptian fruit to importers on three continents — and we still walk the rows every morning.
From one orchard to fifteen ports
It began with a problem every Egyptian grower knows: the best fruit ripens all at once. In 2012 Youssef El-Masry watched a record mango crop lose value in a single hot week, and decided the answer was not to sell faster — it was to stop the clock.
The first freezing line was second-hand and painfully small. But buyers in Rotterdam noticed something: the mango tasted like August in January. Orders followed, then strawberries, then pomegranate arils from Assiut.
Today Agro Shine works with more than sixty contracted farms across the Nile Valley and Delta, runs its own IQF plant and cold store in Ismailia, and ships reefer containers to importers in Europe, the Gulf and North America. The idea has not changed — pick at the peak, freeze within hours, ship with the paperwork done.
We did not want to sell faster. We wanted to stop the clock.
Four things we will not compromise
They cost us margin some seasons. They are also the reason importers reorder.
Peak-ripeness picking
We harvest by Brix and colour, not by the calendar. Fruit that is not ready waits on the tree.
Hours, not days, to −18°C
Our plant sits inside the growing region. Fruit is frozen the same day it is picked.
Farmers as partners
Season contracts, agreed prices and agronomy support — because good fruit starts with a grower who is not gambling.
Paperwork you can trust
Every pallet is traceable to a farm and a pick date. Lab certificates travel with the container.
Twelve seasons, one idea

First orchard
Twelve hectares of mango outside Ismailia.

First export
One reefer of frozen mango chunks to Rotterdam.

Own IQF line
Tunnel freezer commissioned, 3 t/hour.

BRCGS certified
Grade AA on the first audit.

New cold store
4,000 pallet positions at −22°C.

15 markets
First shipments to Canada and Japan.
Built inside the orchard belt
Most freezers are near the port. Ours is 40 minutes from the trees, so fruit is graded, washed, cut and frozen before the sugars start to move. The cold store next door holds it at −22°C until your container is booked.

No call centre. The person quoting your container has walked the orchard it comes from.

Five regions, one river
Each fruit comes from the place in Egypt where it grows best — and we contract farms only there.

Frozen is not a compromise. Done right, it is the only way a strawberry picked in Egypt in February arrives in Hamburg tasting like February in Egypt.
